But why Allurance?
Allura never showed any romantic interest in him in the last 6 seasons and then Lotor breaks her heart and then Lance is suddenly her type. This does seem to be the cliched Hollywood rom com route that is really uncomfortable. Lance matures and suddenly he’s a love interest? He’s still the same person.
I don’t like the possibility of Lotura being a stepping stone for Allurance and I don’t like the possibility of Allurance shippers getting their hopes up only for Lotura to be endgame. Either way a group of fans are going to be hurt and misled.
Also, given all the talk about Lance not being a second choice or rebound this may not be the right story line to demonstrate this. Regardless of how Lotor is next season there is always going to be the belief that Lance only got with Allura because Lotor was bad, if he had been good then Lance wouldn’t have stood a chance.
We’ll just have to see what happens next season because a lot can happen in Voltron in 13 eps.
