I hate to break it to yall but China is not the primary reason gays aren’t in Disney movies. Disney frequently has to re-edit their films for China regardless of a gay or two in a movie.
Disney doesn’t feature gay characters because Disney is a massive corporation made up of thousands of creators who are subservient to shareholders that are primary white, male, uber-wealthy, and homophobic. What shareholders say, goes. And that becomes what we see.
This is not because of China, this is a product of shareholder value; when corporate decisions are made to maximize profit for executives always at the expense of employees or customers.

I do get like the flack with China is real. They should be held accountable for the lives taken in Hong Kong, how they continously bully smaller Asian Countries, lay claim to our lands and take advantage of the fact that we are mostly poor because we were ex-colonies of Western countries and were bled dry with unfair and dangerous treaties and contracts. Their reign of terror in Asia is real. It has been slowly creeping through our doors and I fear that it won’t be long before the rest of us might end up losing our autonomy all together. The stronger countries are turning a blind eye on this and letting them take over so hey might not be long before China comes knocking in theirs. The sleeping giant has long awoken so why are we still sleeping???
But gotta admit though, this Disney thing is on the rich white dudes. Hold China accountable but for the right reasons.
P.S. I know y'all are scared of being called racist for calling out China’s bullshit but it is the same as calling out all the shitty stuff USA did and may be doing still. But as long as you understand that China does not translate to the Chinese and you can be Chinese without supporting China and their subtle conquest of Asia and in the same light, you can also not be Chinese and support China’s bullshit. Then we are cool.
